Luke 6:20-21 – “Blessed are you who are poor, for yours is the kingdom of God. Blessed are you who are hungry now, for you shall be satisfied.” The Beatitudes are largely about emptiness. If you are poor, your pockets are empty. If you are hungry, your stomach is empty. If you are mourning, there’s an emptiness in your heart, that used to be filled with the presence of a loved one. Jesus assures us in each case that the Lord will fill our emptiness. That assurance gives us peace, and courage to follow the Lord faithfully.
Wednesday Night Lenten Meals – It has been decided to ask our members to sign-up to bring different food items for our Wednesday Night Lenten Meals this year, which will begin on Wednesday, March 6. A theme has been established for each meal, and the theme for the first meal is Chili! The sign-up list is on the Kitchen Counter in the Fellowship Hall.
A New Edition Of The Our Redeemer Membership List, dated January 1, 2019, has been produced and placed in member mailboxes. Extras are available on the table in front of the center office in the Fellowship Hall. Members are asked to please check their listing and notify Pastor Bragdon of any errors or omissions.
Help Needed – We need some volunteers to help with categorizing the 60+ praise songs we currently use, according to Scripture references and themes, so that we can more easily match them with Sunday Scripture readings and themes. Until we can organize our praise songs in this way, we are paused on accepting suggestions for new praise songs. If you are able and willing to help, please let Karen Lindenmuth or Pastor Bragdon know. We anticipate starting with a workshop on some upcoming Saturday morning.
Are You A Thrivent Member? We were reminded recently of the potential benefit to our congregation from Thrivent Action Team Projects, and already have some underway. It would be helpful to know which of our members have a Thrivent product. If you do, and are willing to share that information with us, please put your information on the sign-up list on the Kitchen Counter in the Fellowship Hall. If you have questions, please talk to Donna Kangas.
Yoga For Real Women – Yoga is a class for overall women's health. It's not performance oriented. Instead, we build strength, flexibility, and balance, in a safe and low-stress way. Beginners are always welcome. We have extra mats and pads for ladies who don't have their own mat yet. Our goal is to feel better when we leave than when we arrived. This yoga class is taught by a Christian mother of four, who began practicing yoga after her own injuries precluded other exercise. Caroline is a women's fitness specialist, and a nutrition and wellness coach. If interested, contact Lisa Guillory at <firstname.lastname@example.org> or the instructor Caroline Sykes (RYT-200, WCES, CHC, Pn1) at Santewomenscoaching.com.
If you would like to assist with Altar Flowers here at Our Redeemer, you may either make a general donation to our Flower Fund, or request flowers for a special occasion. If you wish to make a general donation, please give that to Karen Lindenmuth, our Altar Flower person. Checks may be made out to Karen. If you wish to request flowers for a special occasion, on a specific Sunday, the usual donation is $25. Please sign-up on the Altar Flower Calendar in the church narthex, and then give the information about desired details, and the special occasion, to Karen, at least a couple of weeks ahead of that Sunday. She may be contacted at 903-241-8049 ext. 200 or <email@example.com>.
